Dr. Sim is actively involved in statistical methodology research on data from immunological assays and data on molecular/genetic biomarkers for diagnosis of tumor disease and determining pathways of tumor metastasis.

Her research of interest is in the analysis of genomic data, longitudinal data, multiple comparisons and multiple tests, statistical modeling with covariates and analysis of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. She has built a modified Cox hazard model to mimic the immunity generation of a vaccine to predict the probability of transmission or occurrence of a disease. Using this modified Cox hazard model she projects the efficacy of the vaccine to 10,20 and 30 years in preventing transmission or occurrence of disease in a given population through simulation.

Prior to joining the John Wayne Cancer Institute, Dr. Sim was the Senior Statistician in the Department of Pediatrics, UCLA for the HIV perinatal transmission Phase III trial.
