Dr. Giuliano served as Director of UCLA’s Breast Service for 10 years and was Medical Director of the John Wayne Cancer Clinic at UCLA. He retains an appointment as Clinical Professor of Surgery both at UCLA and at USC and is Chief of Science and Medicine at the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI). In addition to being the author of more than 400 scientific articles and book chapters, Dr. Giuliano is a pioneer in breast cancer surgery with the introduction of sentinel node biopsy for the treatment of breast cancer. He is an authority on surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid and is a pioneer in minimally invasive radio-guided parathyroidectomy. Dr. Giuliano is a member of 20 professional societies and serves on the editorial boards of several prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals. As Chief of Science and Medicine, Director of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Breast Center, and Director of the Breast and Endocrine Program at JWCI, Dr. Giuliano is actively involved in clinical trials and basic research in breast cancer, thyroid cancer, and parathyroid disease.
